What is a contingency fee?
A contingency fee is a payment that is only due if there was a favorable result. It is also known as the “no win no fee” system. Contingency fees are often used with attorney costs. They are advantageous as they allow parties who could not normally afford lawyer expenses to pursue action in a legal setting, as the fees are paid out of the winnings rather than out of the pocket of the client. The fees also provide motivation for an attorney to work diligently for the person he or she represents.
